Day 6:
This week I have been slacking it on waking up. Usually, I have to wake up around 5:00 a.m., take my long relaxing shower, spend 20 minutes looking for clean pants, and eat a bowl of Cheerios. After all that I go to church for Seminary, a bible study. Instead, I am waking around 6:40 a.m., taking unappealing 5 minute showers, skipping breakfast at home, then stumbling outside to get in the car and almost forgetting my ID to get into school. I really do not get the point of school ID's. Such a nuisance and pain in the ass. When I got to school I barely had time to eat my disgusting, butter-sogged pancakes.
Nothing really happened during school, just my friends hyping over Saturday, the day we all go to Palm Desert to skate. After school, my uncle came to pick me and my brother up. Me and my brother are always on the opposite sides of the school and are supposed to be outside ready to be picked up. I was outside talking with my friends, was ready to be picked up, then got picked up. My uncle drove on the other side to pick up my brother, but he was not there. We waited 10 minutes before we assumed he grabbed another ride with one of his friends.
Me, my uncle, and my younger siblings, who were also in the car, got home, and my brother wasn't home. We just said, "Screw it, he's walking home." We gave him the rough treatment, because he was already in trouble for doing something random like arguing with my mother or something like that, I don't know. Walking home from school takes a little over an hour. We expected him home around 4:30 p.m. It started to get dark. He was still not home. My uncle went out again to pick him up, but when he came back , my brother was not with him. I was kind of worried but not really at the same time. My brother may be younger than me, but he is stronger and taller than me. All I was thinking was how much shit he is going to be in when he gets home.
I left the house to go skating, my brother still on my mind. When I met up with my friends we decided to get on the highway and skate at Freedom Park. I was pretty stoked. It was my first time going there. When we were still on the highway, some guy or girl was speeding hardcore passed us and passed the traffic ahead. That driver was an accident waiting to happen. Before we knew it, we started smelling the odor of burnt rubber and seeing gray smoke through city lights. The speeder, who has just been in a foreshadowed accident, was being bitched at by the victim. I thought it was ironically funny, yet I can't ponder how those two might feel.
Freedom Park was pretty great. A little skate park with a few ramps and bikers inhabiting it, a few awesome six stairs, a nice warm up three stair, some benches, and perfect lighting. We would've filmed, but forgot the camera. We skated the six stairs first. One of my friends popped an ollie off the set right away and landed clean. I was kind of sketchy about the set, because I did not warm up. While I was trying to commit my same friend switch-ollied the set. My other friend landed his ollie off the set. Now I was stoked and committed. I got my speed, popped the ollie right before the first step, landed, and fell on to my side. I got up right away saying, "Ya, I got this."
I was walking toward the beginning of the run-up and my friend then landed a switch 180 or nollie 180 ( I couldn't tell, he did it first try) off the set. I gained the speed, popped the confident ollie, landed with my knees bending to the flow of the impact, and rolled away with style. I did not care about the switch ollie or nollie 180, I just know that my landing was pretty damn clean. I swear, that landing made my day. Nothings feels better than a clean landing.
We kept skating like that for awhile. We decided to play a game of SKATE on the ramps. Was a fun game. We don't really compete just to compete, it is more like compete to add a little more fun to an already fun day. After the game, I was just trying to kickflip a little drop. I went for it several times. I went for it again, knowing that this was the time I am going to land the trick, but when I landed one the board, the tail went out and snapped. I was bummed, but soon after we drove back to Indio and I skated home with what I had left of my board. One of my friends told me that he has a spare deck that I could use. We planned to meet on Saturday to do the switch. Was an overall good day.
Day 7:
I got grounded today. My Aunt who was having faint spells that day, came out criticizing my chores and yelling at me watching Despicable Me, my baby brother laying in my arms. I kind of was a douche and retaliated back with my words and that got me grounded for 2 weeks. I was pissed when I was told i could not go to Palm Desert on Saturday. The groundation also meant no internet access for me.
Day 8:
I would've been in Palm Desert, today. Being grounded sucks. Stuck at home on a Saturday. Sad.
Day 9:
I went to church for the first time in 3 weeks. Our ward got moved to a different building. Like a new a haircut, kind of, but church. Twas a pretty average day at that. Still grounded.
Day 10:
No School today. Holidays are great and all, but still grounded. Watched a few movies, read my book that I have to finish by the end of the week. Pretty boring book, too. Bored....
Day 11:
Nothing really happened today. Pretty laid back. but still ground.
Day 12-14:
Finals. I aced all my tests. Fuck ya! Still grounded.
My birthday is on the 22nd.
New photos, too.
